How to Use Chamomile Essential Oil to Treat Varicose Veins, Sore Muscles, Acne and Much More

Most people know Chamomile as a common flavor of tea, often promoted for its calming effects. Since Roman times, Chamomile oils have been used topically to cure all sorts of ailments ranging from muscle soreness and spasms to stomach and indigestion issues. Today, Chamomile is used in a variety of cosmetic and beauty products because it has positive effects on so many different parts of the body both internally and externally. Lets look at a few of the most common health benefits and how you can obtain these benefits for yourself by incorporating Chamomile essential oils into your life:

Antibacterial/Anti-Fungal: Chamomile has very strong antibiotic and antiseptic properties. This makes it great for uses such as:

Disinfecting the House: Try diffusing chamomile with lemon essential oil while you clean. The antiseptic and antibiotic properties of both essential oils will reach (via vapor) every corner of the room. Leaving your house smelling clean and fresh while killing unwanted germs in hard to reach places.

Treating Acne: Add 5 drops of Chamomile essential oil, 5 drops of Tea tree oil to 30 ml of Jojoba oil. Apply daily after showering or washing your face.

Lice/Mites: Add chamomile essential oil directly to the hair and scalp in order to kill lice and/or mites. Also, add 10 -15 drops of Chamomile essential oil to your shampoo for additional treatment and prevention.

Anti-Inflammatory: Chamomile essential oil has strong anti-inflammatory properties. These properties create a calming effect that soothes not only physical inflammation such as muscles, but also mental inflammation, such as stress, hyperactivity and insomnia.

Calm Skin Irritations: Mix 5 drops of Lavender, Jasmin and Chamomile essential oil with 30ml of a carrier oil such as Jojoba oil. Apply to irritated areas of the skin.

Stomach and Digestion: By applying Chamomile topically to the stomach, you will feel the relaxing effects. It also induces secretion of digestive juices in the gut and bile in the liver.

Clarify and Illuminate hair and skin: Chamomile essential oil provides both nutrients and vitality to hair and skin. Add 10-15 drops of Chamomile essential oil to your shampoo/lotion for brighter and healthier looking hair and skin.

Varicose Veins: Add 5 drops each of Chamomile, Cypress and Neroli (Orange Blossom) essential oil to 30ml of Jojoba oil and apply daily to reduce and prevent varicose veins.

Remember, Chamomile essential oil is for aromatic and topical use only. Do NOT ingest or allow near your eyes. Also, be sure to remember you can enhance products such as creams, lotions, soaps and shampoos by adding a few drops of Chamomile essential oil. Do not use within the first 4 months of pregnancy. Some people in rare occasions will have allergic reactions to Chamomile so use with caution at first and if you notice any allergic reactions discontinue use.
