HOW TO MAKE BASIL OIL

Basil is a soft herb with a strong, pungent and sweet smell. It’s very popular in Italian Cuisine and it’s normally used fresh in salads or pizzas.
In the fine dining scene basil oil is quite popular due to its colour and aromatic taste.
Here I show you how you can make your own basil oil at home.

PRO TIP!
#1 – Use only the best leaves.
#2 – Make sure when boiling the water is in a rolling boil stage.
#3 – Make sure the leaves are soft and squeeze all the excess water.
#4 – Use refined oils (grapeseed oil and refined vegetable oil work great), such oils are bland and you will only get the basil taste (don’t recommend using strong flavour oils such as extra virgin olive oil).

METHOD:
1. Blanch one bunch of basil until soft.
2.Remove all the excess water.
3.Blend the basil with any refined oil of your choice (1bunch of basil to 100ml oil)
4. Pass trough sieve and fine cloth if necessary.
